SPECIAL MEETING

LEVY COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

April 20, 2001

 The Special Meeting of the Board of Levy County Commissioners was held on April 20, 2001 at 8:00 a.m. in the Levy County Board of County Commissioners’ meeting room, with the following Commissioners present:

Chairman Sammy Yearty

Vice Chairman Don Foley

Comm. Tony Parker

Comm. Danny Stevens

 Also present were:

County Administrator George Lambka

 

 Chairman Yearty called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. for the purpose to discuss the acceptance of the bids submitted for the roof repair at the jail.

 BIDS

Mr. George Lambka explained Invitations to Bid were sent to five (5) roofing contractors and two (2) bids were received and opened at the April 17, 2001 regular meeting.

Mr. Lambka said the following bids were reviewed by the committee:

C. W. Strickland for $142,500.00 allowing a credit of $7,500.00 for the tin already purchased reducing the bid to $135,000.00, allowing for 20 sheets of plywood with a charge of $25.00 per hour plus cost of materials for any additional plywood.

Mac Johnson Roofing for $109,000.00 allowing a credit of $5,000.00 for the tin already purchased reducing the bid to $104,000.00, allowing an additional credit of $1,000.00 if a truck and employee is provided to transport the waste materials and the assumption of dumping fees. Any woodwork is additional, labor plus material. Woodwork is $25.00 per hour plus material .

 Mr. Lambka explained the committee discussed the $1,000.00 credit and recommended not accepting this portion of the bid. Mr. Lambka said the committee recommended acceptance of the low bid from Mac Johnson Roofing.

Comm. Foley moved to accept the low bid from Mac Johnson Roofing of $104,000.00. Comm. Parker seconded and the MOTION CARRIED.

Comm. Foley recommended further negotiations with Mac Johnson Roofing to obtain a further reduction for the tin already purchased for $8,000.00.

THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS THE MEETING ADJOURNED.
