SPECIAL MEETING
LEVY COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
September 21, 2004

The Special Meeting of the Board of Levy County Commissioners was held on September 21, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. in the Levy County Board of County Commissioners’ meeting room, with the following Commissioners present:

Chairwoman Lilly Rooks
Comm. Danny Stevens
Comm. Tony Parker
Comm.  Nancy Bell
Comm. Sammy Yearty

Also present were:

County Coordinator - Fred Moody
County Attorney- Anne Brown

PARK AND RECREATIONS

Chairwoman Rooks called to order a special meeting for review of a Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) Grant to fund the renovation and repair of the No. Four (4) bridge fishing pier near Cedar Key, Florida.

Ms. Kathy Winburn stated the sole purpose of this meeting was to obtain the maximum points in public participation for the grant application. 

Mr. Matt Weldon presented for informational purposes an overview of the construction entailment of the No. Four (4) bridge. Mr. Weldon noted the pilings have decayed and started to collapse. Mr. Weldon said he has obtained FRDAP grant findings that may fund a maximum of $200,000.00 to refurbish the pier.  Mr. Weldon further stated the desire to implement a kiosk at the end of the dock providing information on birds, aquatic life, the history of Fort No. Four (4) and the No. Four (4) channel and also parking lot area lighting provision and boat ramp renovation.  Mr. Weldon said  the Suwannee River Water Management District has committed to provision of an environmentally safe restroom facility.
Mr. Weldon concluded that a request for waiver of the matching grant funds through the Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) program was submitted  with the grant.
